Begin with an exported collection
A DJ library contains more than a list of filenames. Track metadata, prepared cue positions, loops, beatgrid anchors and playlist order all contribute to a performance. A conversion should therefore expose what it maps and what it leaves behind. Keep a backup in the originating application before creating any portable export.
Choose an ordinary rekordbox XML export, not a proprietary database or USB device library. The workbench reads the source locally and lists the supported records. Inspect a track with a loop, a track with multiple tempo anchors and a playlist with repeated entries; these provide more useful coverage than checking only a simple track title.
Review the target profile
Select Traktor NML as the destination and prepare the handoff. This release writes a conservative version 19 profile with one collection BPM and the first grid anchor for each track. A changing-tempo track needs particular attention because later anchors do not transfer. Metre and beat-phase differences are also reported.
Hotcue assignments outside slots zero through seven, duplicate assigned slots, cue colours and extra source fields appear in the omission ledger when encountered. A loop retains its supported start and end positions. The generated NML is parsed again and its supported values compared with the selected source records, so changes in duration, cue assignments and grid coverage can be inspected in the JSON report.
Test before merging
Download the actual NML and import it into a separate test library. Check the music paths and listen around cue and loop boundaries. A structural XML check cannot prove that the target application chose the same audio decoder, respected every imported field or merged metadata in the way you expected.
Only merge after reviewing representative tracks and playlist order. Keep the original application backup as well as the handoff archive. The archive is useful evidence and includes the unchanged source export, but it does not contain audio, artwork caches or all the data required to reconstruct a complete vendor library.
